A polished AI output on its own does not show us how a child thinks.
Their judgement matters.
Level 1 can be completed without a learner independently creating or using an external AI account.
Students are not required to publish their work publicly, create social-media or freelance-platform accounts, contact strangers, or make real financial transactions to complete UpgrAIed.
They are also taught to keep unnecessary personal information out of AI tools and to use fictional, sample, generic or appropriately anonymised information where possible.
The objective is not to keep children away from AI.
It is to help them become more capable of thinking when AI is available.
Students need a foundation that helps them think, question, verify and build with AI while recognising what still belongs to them.
A Learning Partner can be a Parent, Grandparent, Guardian or Teacher. The role is to learn alongside the student and support better conversations, not to monitor every interaction.

Look for whether the child can explain what they were trying to do, what they questioned, what they checked, what they changed, and where their own judgement mattered.
